Whilst the property is inland north of FOUGERES, it is within easy driving distance to the glorious soft sand beaches and very close to Le Mont St Michel, which is thought to be the most visited tourist attraction outside of Paris.
Within a 45 minute drive is the wonderful historic port of ST MALO, which boasts La Ville intra-muros (The Old Walled Town) with beautiful cobbled streets and an abundance of fine seafood restaurants. You can even hop on the Sea Cat (Emeraude) and take a day trip to Jersey or Guernsey.
Also nearby are the very pretty towns of DINARD and DINAN and to the south, RENNES & FOUGERES and offer historical chateaux, museums, markets etc. as well as the train link to Paris from Rennes. As well as these there are many smaller towns with their own architecture and history to explore, and maybe enjoy a coffee or wine and just let the world drift by.
The area around La Basse Fontenelle is ideal for cycling or walking, with nearby woods and water parks, heated pools, lakes etc. plus nature and adventure trails, and obviously these areas are a haven for birds and wildlife.
If you prefer to be more active there are numerous superb golf courses in the area, lakes and rivers which you can swim and sail in, and some of the best fishing France can offer.
The nearest port is St. Malo but La Basse Fontenelle is also within easy driving distance of the ports of Roscoff, Cherbourg, Caen and Le Havre (from 1.5 - 2.5 hours). It really is a pleasure to drive in France as the roads are normally very clear and in good condition.
